 Elephants on revenge mission

Defender Emmanuel Eboue says vengeance will be in the air when Ivory Coast take on Egypt in Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.

The two teams met in the 2006 final, which the Egyptians won on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes.

"For us, it is going to be a big revenge because they beat us in the last Nations Cup,” the 24-year-old told BBC Sport.

"But the match is going be very difficult for both teams.”
The Ivorians are seeking their second title in Ghana, with their previous success coming at the 1992 Nations Cup in Senegal.
Captain Didier Drogba missed chances in the 2006 final that could have seen the Elephants lifting the trophy.
The tie in Kumasi will be a very different affair as the Pharaohs will be without the home support that was crucial to their 2006 success.
A crowd of 76,000 watched them win the Nations Cup in Cairo two years ago.
The Elephants, who have scored 12 goals and conceded just once in their four matches in Ghana, are desperate to win for former coach Uli Stielike.
The German stepped down days before the tournament to care for his son Michael, who had fallen into a coma but who died last Friday.
"I just want to say to Stielike that we are with him," Eboue explained.
"We know it is very difficult for him because his son has died. So we are going to pray for him and going to call him to give him power because he is very, very down."
Ivory Coast face five-time champions Egypt at 2030 GMT in Thursday’s second semi-final, after hosts Ghana take on Cameroon in Accra earlier in the day.

The defending champions reached the semi-finals on Monday after knocking out Angola with a 2-1 win, while the Ivorians qualified with a 5-0 destruction of Guinea on Sunday.
